Ed was born Dec. 22, 1961, in Vineland, N.J. He joined the United States Air Force Aug. 26, 1980 as an Aircrew EGRESS Systems Craftsman during which he devoted 9 years to foreign service including serving at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt; Zweibrücken Air Base, Germany; Incirlik Air Base, Turkey; and Operations Desert Storm, Desert Shield and Southern Watch in Saudi Arabia. He retired from military service May 31, 2001, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C. He later returned to serve the military as an Aircrew EGRESS Technician through civil service at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, where he continued doing what he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Toni Tomlin, Converse, Texas; stepdaughter, Jessica King, Alexandria, Va.; stepson, Shane King and wife Sarah, Groveport, Ohio; five grandchildren, Isaac, Isabella, Lillian, Elliott, and Jacob King, Groveport, Ohio; and his mother, Nelda Carter, Kingsport, Tenn.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Sally Carter; and his father Neal Tomlin.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24, at the Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City, Texas, Reverend Robert White will officiate.
While the family appreciates your condolences, they do not wish for you to bring flowers or plants. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make a donation to a cause Ed loved, his Chihuahuas. All contributions will go to the Texas Chihuahua Rescue Organization.
