Docia Joanne Revels was the first of born of Joseph Hugh Revels and Wonder Louise Ball Revels. Her father preceded her in death.
She united in church at Savannah Baptist Church in Marion, Texas at the age of six where she confessed her love for Jesus Christ. In later years, she joined Northern Hills United Methodist Church. There, she remained until her death. She was very active working in the church, bible study, the deaf church, usher, hospitality, book club, dominoes, etc. She was as active as her health allowed.
Despite her health, she was able to graduate from Judson High School and Southwest Texas University in San Marcos Texas. She graduated from college with a B.A. in Social Work and a B.A. in psychology. She also taught special education math.
Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 3: 5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding;
She also loved John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
She loved the Lord and she loved others. She was always smiling even when she was in pain. She loved people and giving people small keepsakes that held importance. She loved her family and her friends. She loved with all her heart.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving mother Wonder Louise, her loving sister Dawn Janette Keane-Dawes, her beloved nephew and niece Matthew Marshall and Ivy Louise, Uncle Webster (Ada Mae) Sheppard, Aunt Edith Revels, Aunt Margie Revels, Uncle James (Linda) Revels, Norva Lee (John) Durham, and numerous beloved cousins, relatives, and a host of friends.
The family would like to express sincere thanks for all the cards, phone calls, text messages, visits, gifts, and words of love that we have experienced during this difficult time. We truly felt the presence of the Lord. The Lord’s light has shone on us and we are wrapped his love. Joanne will forever be in our hearts and we are rest assured, she is smiling with God. Her memory will be with us until we meet again in heaven.
