On July 20, 1961, Beverly Faye Cleveland was born the eight child to the devoted parentage of Reverend J. D. and Sallie Cleveland in Austin, Texas. Beverly accepted Christ early in life and united with the Union Lee Missionary Baptist Church of Manor Texas under to pastoral leadership of her father Reverend J. D. Cleveland.
Beverly was educated in the Austin Independent School District and graduated from John H. Reagan High in 1979 with honors. Beverly was selected by the faculty and administrators to be the recipient of "Who's Who Among American High School Students, one of the most long-standing honors programs in the nation. Beverly continued her education at the Austin Community College, Austin, Texas and the University of Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona.
Beverly was employed with Austin Community College, Internal Revenue and Chase Bank in Meza, Arizona.
She was the proud mother of Christopher Lee Hernandez and Elissa Shranaye Hammonds.
On July 27, 1992, Beverly entered Holy Matrimony with the late Froswa W. Johnson. Froswa moved his family to Phoenix, Arizona. There they united and were faithful members and Beverly served on the Nurses Guild of the South Phoenix Missionary Baptist Church of Phoenix Arizona, under Reverend Dr. Bernard Black.
The family returned to San Antonio, Texas and once again reunited and became faithful members of the Union Lee Missionary Baptist Church.
In December 2012, Beverly was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma Stage 4, a form of a very rare and aggressive cancer called Sarcoma. Beverly went to battle against this cancer and was treated by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals at Scott & White-Temple, M.D Anderson - Houston, and Methodist -San Antonio.
On Tuesday, September 15, 2015, our Almighty God sent a host of heavenly angels to accompany his child home.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Froswa Waldemar Johnson, maternal and paternal grandparents, grand children Asheeia Hammonds , Genesis Hernandez, and brother Willie James Cleveland.
Left to cherish her loving memories are her parents Reverend J. D. & Sallie Cleveland, her children, Christopher Lee Hernandez (Tiffany), Fort Hood, Tx, daughter Elissa Shranaye Hammonds, San Antonio, Tx. Grandchildren: Adam, Eli, Genesis Faye, Jeremiah and Levi, Brothers: Charles Moore (Anamaria) -Mansfield, Tx, Joe Cleveland - Austin, Tx, Reverend Randolph Cleveland (Portia) - Houston, Tx, Howard Cleveland (Sharon) - Hutto, Tx. Sisters: Cynthia Holliday, Cellestine Williams (Ronald) Vickie Hillard (Willie) all of Austin, Tx, Doris Hill (Columbus) Dallas, Tx. 42 nephews and nieces, 99 great-nephews nieces, 22 great-great nephews and nieces and a host of loving relatives and friends. Extended family-Francis and Odis Freeman.
Visitation will be Monday, September 21, 2015 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. John Tabernacle Church in Austin, the funeral service will follow. Graveside services and interment will be Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
