Antonio Mendoza, age 76, of Cibolo, Texas, formerly of Pueblo, Colorado, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. He was born September 28, 1948 in San Antonio, Texas to Francisco Flores Mendoza and Petra Cervantes.
With a distinguished 22-year career in the United States Marine Corps, he enlisted in 1968 and served honorably. Immediately following boot camp and basic school, he was deployed to Vietnam. His specialization in Motor Transportation in the United States Marine Corps laid the groundwork for his subsequent career as an owner operator in transportation from 1990 to 2008, following his retirement from the Marine Corps in 1989. Outside of his professional pursuits, he cherished spending quality time with his loved ones and friends, relishing BBQs and music. Moreover, he took great pride in his possessions, exemplified by his immaculately manicured lawn.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Francisco Flores Mendoza; Mother, Petra Cervantes; Brother, Frank Cervantes Mendoza; Sister. Cecelia Mendoza Casillas; Brother, Ricardo Mendoza.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 59 years, Alicia Marquez Mendoza; Son, Antonio Mendoza Jr. (Gladys); Daughters, Sonia Del Valle (Marcelino) and Maite Mendoza; Brother, Alfred Mendoza(Margie); Sister, Maria Juanita Negrete(Fernando); Grandchildren, Jesse Ray Mendoza (Veronica), William R. Copeland II, Alysia A. Orozco, Justin C. Copeland (Barbara), Tony Mendoza III, Ricardo V. Orozco, Crystal E. Copeland, Estevan Mendoza, Selena Bravo, Gabriel Bravo, Rachel Mendoza and 12 Great Grandchildren.
A visitation for Antonio will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Road, Universal City, TX 78148. A final viewing will occur Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Colonial Funeral Home. A mass of resurrection will be celebrated Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 N Evans Rd, Selma, TX 78154. A committal service will follow from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Memorial Park 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd, San Antonio, TX 78239.
