Richard John Jesberger, affectionately known as "Jess," passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and exceptional culinary skills. Born on May 15, 1949, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Harold and Anna Jesberger, Rich lived a life marked by dedication and warmth.
A proud graduate of Snyder High School in 1968, Rich enlisted in the US Army, where he served his country with honor in Korea during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1971. His military service was a testament to his courage and commitment.
In 1975, Rich met the love of his life, Nancy Farrell. Their love blossomed, and they welcomed their son, Richard Brian, in 1977. Rich worked in construction for many years, but he was best known for his phenomenal cooking and grill mastery. His culinary specialties, including Spedini, Veal Muro, and his famous hot dog chili, were loved by all who had the pleasure of tasting them.
Rich was an active member of the VFW Post 1397 and had many friends and buddies at the American Legion Post 102 in Linden. His camaraderie and friendship were deeply cherished by all who knew him.
Rich is predeceased by his parents, Harold and Anna Jesberger; his sister, Carol Ann Hagerty; and his beloved wife, Nancy Jesberger. He is survived by his son, Richard Brian Jesberger of Edison; brothers, Harold Jesberger of Carteret, and Kenneth Jesberger of Peoria, Arizona. He also leaves behind sister-in-laws, Evelyn Farrell Feehan and Donna Reagan Farrell of Linden; nieces Christine Betros Farrell of Basking Ridge and Susan Farrell of Union; nephews Joseph Farrell of Union,Thomas Feehan, wife Jessica; Michael Feehan, wife Danielle and Daniel Feehan, and fiancé Patti Swick; Frank Acanfora and wife Kelly of Brick, NJ; Barbara Hubbard and husband Bill of Washington Township, Thomas and Bill Hagerty, of New Jersey; nieces Kris, Jennifer and Anne of Arizona; and many great nieces and nephews.
Rich’s legacy of love, service, and culinary excellence will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
A visitation for Richard will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083, followed by a military honors from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM. A private cremation will follow all services.
