Marie R. Auguste

Marie Auguste Darbouze was born in Haiti and only daughter with four brothers. She was a school teacher at a private school in Haiti and a Sunday School teacher at Eglise de Dieu a la Rue du Centre. (Church of God of Center Street). She also was involved in many church activities in Haiti.

Marie moved to Brooklyn, New York, and then moved to Montclair, New Jersey in the 60s where she resided with her eldest son Jean M. Tanis.

Marie lived in New Jersey for several years, and decided to move to Florida where she accomplished her nursing certificate as a Nursing Assistant.

Marie became very ill then; she moved back to New Jersey in 2006 and then moved to St Mary’s Villa due to her health complications, she moved and resided to Alaris Health Care Center for one year and half. She died peacefully in her sleep on September 11, 2023.

She had 6 children, three of whom had passed. Carole Lamothe, Yolette Lamothe and Jean Tanis who died recently.

She was survived by her three children. Yanick Lamothe, Alice Lafond, and Patrick R. Lamothe. As well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Today, we are here to honor the legacy of her life, a mother, friend, warrior, resilient woman of God loved by many.

The sun is shining. The Lamothe, Tanis, Cenatus, Augustin, and all of you who are here in this beautiful celebration of life to say GOODBYE!

A visitation for Marie will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mount Pleasant Ave, Livingston, NJ 07039.

A second visitation will occur Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Haitian Bethel Baptist Church, 253 Springfield Ave, Newark, NJ. Funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM

A graveside service will occur Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Rosedale Cemetery, 408 Orange Road, Montclair, NJ 07052.
