My Testimony
My name is Jason McKoy
Before I had what I like to call my “spiritual birth,” I walked through life with anger, sadness and fear. Anger and sadness came from losing a close friend at the age of 23. I turned to destructive behaviors. A year later God blessed me with a beautiful daughter. She changed my life. My life turned 180 degrees around. As the years past I felt more and more blessed watching her grow and achieve her goals. I then became sick, which brought fear to my life. I was so scared of dying and leaving my daughter. I continued to attend church on Sundays and listen to the messages, but the fear kept on growing. Then I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I remember the day: I was getting ready for work, fearful and sick, and I dropped to my knees. I asked Jesus to forgive me of my sins and save me from eternal separation from God. I thanked him for providing me a way to have a relationship with my heavenly Father. Calmness came over me. It was more than calmness, though, for I know that, through faith in Jesus, we have eternal life. I then said another prayer. “I pray to you, Lord. Please give me the strength, wisdom and determination to walk in the center of your will. In Jesus' name, Amen” You see, I finally realized--throughout my life, with all the ups and downs, I was never alone. Jesus was leading me all the time to bring me to this new spiritual birth. Now I feel such excitement in my life. I tell everyone of my commitment to Jesus. I am still not well physically speaking, but there is a difference: I am no longer alone. I am not fighting alone. I was in a Christian book store and came across this green stone. On the stone it reads; “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3” What power are in those words! IT didn’t matter how much it cost, because those words are worth more to me than any amount of money. So I bought the stone. I keep it in my pocket no matter where I go. When times are tough, or I become fearful, I reach down and hold the stone in my hand and it reminds me of my faith and my commitment to the Lord, and that always brings me to a better place.I am blessed to have my daughter with me today, so I can celebrate with her, as well as the church, my new life in Christ. And I am blessed to be able to share my story with all of you, my brother and sisters in the Lord.
