Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Sunday November 27th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave. Union, NJ. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Spirit Church, Morris Ave. on Monday November 28th at 10:30 AM. Interment is at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
Mr. Bittner was the son of the late Ludwig and Bridget Bittner. He was born and raised in Newark, NJ and attended Seton Hall Prep. He received his Bachelors in Accounting and MBA from Seton Hall University. Mr. Bittner proudly served his country for two years in the U.S. Army (Army Audit) in the U.S. and in Germany.
He was a Certified Public Accountant and was employed for many years by Cooper Industries and its predecessor Wagner Electric/ Tung-sol. He was affiliated with Fazio, Mannuzo, Roche, Tankle and Lapiluso CPA's of Cranford for the past 15 years.
Mr. Bittner served as president of the National Association of Accountants 1971-1972. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of CPA's.
Fred was a member of the Knights of Columbus Union, NJ Council. He was a past treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 71.
Fred's greatest joy came from being a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished time spent with his family and especially his grandchildren. His positive outlook, strong faith and deep commitment to family and friends will be in our hearts forever.
Mr. Bittner was the loving husband of Frances Bittner for 57 years. He is also survived by his children Fred J. of Union, Kenneth and his wife Patricia of Mountainside and his daughter Beverly Grassby and her husband Kevin of London, England. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren Emily, John and Michael Bittner of Mountainside and Benjamin, Rebecca, Zachary, Theo, Octavia and Celeste Grassby of London.
