Barbara Kelly

The oldest of four children, Barbara was born on September 16, 1940 in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Patrick and Henrietta Sweeney.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Thomas Kelly and her siblings Charlie, Jay and Sheila. She is survived by her four children, Thomas and his wife Carolyn, Nancy Emmer and her husband Robert, Patrick and his wife Tina and Michael and his wife Veronica, as well as her grandchildren, Megan and her husband Kevin Drew, Ryan Kelly and his partner Michael Navarro, Cara Kelly, Kelly Emmer, Robbie Emmer, Patrick Kelly Jr and Michael Kelly Jr.

In addition to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Barbara worked for the Union County Department of Probation for 25 years, retiring in 2015 at the age of 75.

Barbara enjoyed reading and traveling, including visiting her cousins in Canada. She was active in her church and was a founding member of the Union County Irish-American Association. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 2-6 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Catherine's of Siena, Hillside, NJ on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 10:00 am followed by internment in the St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, NJ.
