Services for Mr. Louis Ray Pennington will be held Tuesday at 11am in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home of Union. Rev. David Robinson will be officiating. Burial will be in Salem Baptist Church cemetery in Kemper County.
Mr. Pennington, 95, of Union passed away Friday at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and U.S. Army during and the Korean War. Mr. Pennington was retired from the Weyerhaeuser Corporation in Philadelphia, MS.
He was a member of Greenland Baptist Church for 54 years, loved going to church, talking about the Bible and his faith in the good Lord.
Mr. Pennington is survived by his sister in laws Helen P. Davis and Hazel H. Russell; nephews Billy Tate, Charles, Mike and Dewayne Massey, Tony Hailey; nieces Susan Ferguson, Jane Lee, Kathy Shelby, Martha Ross and Teresa Oswalt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 61 years Reva Hailey Pennington and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Glen Harrison, Jerry Gamble, Ben Humphrey, J.R. Matlock, Norman Yates and Randy Thrash.
The family will receive friends from 10am to 11 am the day of the service at the funeral home.
