MORRISTOWN – Robert K. Rogers, Sr., also fondly referred to as “Yogi”, age 80, of Morristown passed away on August 26, 2019 at Morristown Medical Center.
Robert was born on July 19, 1939 to Lester and Elizabeth Rogers in Jersey City, NJ. He was the youngest of three males, his oldest brother Lester “Skip” Rogers (deceased) and brother William Rogers (deceased).
He is survived by his wife Joan C. Rogers of nearly 55 years, three children Joan Deutsch and her husband Kerry, Robert K. Rogers, Jr. and Michael F. Rogers and his wife Cynthia. Robert was predeceased by his step-son John J. Mautone. He is also survived by five grandchildren Michele Sabella and her husband Joseph, Jason Deutsch and his wife Mary, Jared Deutsch, Amanda Rogers, Addison Rogers and five great-grandchildren Ella Deutsch, Joseph Deutsch, Gianna Sabella, Anthony Sabella and Sienna Sabella. Many other loving family and friends will cherish his memory.
For nearly 50 years, Robert lived and worked in North Bergen. He had a passion for playing and attending many sporting activities, particularly enthusiastic for the New York Yankees, but devoted many decades of his life participating in bowling leagues and playing and coaching youth baseball teams. Robert managed Nungesser Lanes located in North Bergen for many decades, and worked in the Hudson County Schools of Technology for over ten years. In 1995, he was inducted into the Hudson County NJ Bowling Association Hall of Fame for his sport achievements.
Visitation services will be held at Leber Funeral Home, 2000 Kennedy Blvd., Union City, NJ on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 5pm to 9pm. A private service will be held on Thursday morning, August 29, 2019 at 10am.
