January 4, 1963 – February 24, 2023
Maria Lorena Machado Ramos of Weehawken, NJ, formerly of Jersey City, NJ, peacefully awakened to eternal life on Friday, February 24, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She is now reunited with her sorely missed family members including her parents, Jorge & “Toyita” Ramos and late sister Ana Maria Victoria.
She was born to the late Jorge Alfredo Ramos Viteri & Jenny Victoria Ramos Donggilio on January 4, 1963 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. On May 5, 1963 Maria’s family immigrated to the Bronx, NY and moved to Jersey City soon after where she grew up in the Journal Square neighborhood. She attended Saint Ann’s Catholic School, graduated from Dickinson High School and received a degree & certification in Special Education. She helped countless children during her time servicing the Weehawken Board of Education. She considered all of the students as if they were her own children and was so proud of all their progress and accomplishments.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Alonso Machado, loving daughter Adriana Machado & her husband Derrick Dorta, and adoring granddaughter, Emilia Victoria. She is also survived by her close-knit siblings Maria Esperanza Ramos, Jorge Luis Ramos & his long-time companion Carolina Calderon, Martha Cecilia Pinheiro & her husband Robert Pinherio. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who loved her so dearly: Nathanial Farago & his wife Erica Farago [Cassidy] and their boys Adam & Issac, Dyllon Ramos & his wife Jillian Ramos [Costello] and their son Landon, Andre Farago, Ashley Ramos, Justin Farago, Sarah Reguigui and Jack Ramos. Erica Bellino [Gutierrez], Frank Bellino & their children. She also adored her grandpuppy Frida with all her heart.
Maria Lorena’s Life Celebration will include visitation on Wednesday, March 1, from 3pm–9pm at the Leber Funeral Home, 2000 Kennedy Blvd., Union City, NJ. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 pm during the wake. Funeral prayer service will be offered on Thursday, March 2, beginning at 10am at the funeral home.
