Martha E. Wread 79 of Gales Ferry passed away on December 16th at home with family. Martha was born in Camden, NJ on September 24, 1945, to Harry J. Dworanczyk and Elizabeth Dworanczyk (Budzynski) both deceased.
Martha is survived by her husband Joseph Wread, three children Lisa Richter and her husband Matthew of Westcliff, CO, Gail Wread and Mark Andrukaitis of Grant, FL and Joseph Wread and his wife Hope of Guilford, CT. Two grandsons, Matthew Richter and his wife Haley of Estes Park, CO and Joseph Wread of Guilford, CT.
Martha graduated from Camden High School with honors in 1963. Martha and Joseph were married 61 years ago in Camden, NJ on August 10, 1963, while Joseph was in the Navy. After moving around the country, she and Joseph settled in Gales Ferry. Martha was the secretary at Ledyard Center Elementary school for 25 years, retiring in 2005.
Martha was an avid gardener and a lifetime member of the Ledyard Garden Club of which she served as a past president. She loved to travel. She particularly loved France, to which she and Joseph made many visits. Martha was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Gales Ferry for over 50 years.

There will be a visitation at Church and Allen Funeral Home at 53 Norwich-New London Turnpike, Uncasville, CT on Friday, December 27th from 2:00 to 5:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church on Rt. 12 in Gales Ferry at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 28th.
