Bill graduated from Martin High School in Coushatta Louisiana and then proceeded to join the US Air Force in 1958 where he served for eight honorable years. Along the way, a certain young lass caught his eye, Georgia Ann Kresta, while serving Bill at the local malt shop, Mary’s Malt, in Rockport, Texas. As a result of that faithful day, Bill and Ann were wed on January 26, 1962 and have lovingly served each other now for six decades recently celebrating their 60th anniversary a few days prior to his passing.
Together, Bill and Ann gave their hearts and their lives to Jesus in 1970 and ever since have served the Lord in various capacities, starting in Richmond Texas and ending in Tyler Tx where they have lived for the past 20 years. Considered by many a Man’s man, Bill was a prince of a gentleman who faithfully served God and the needs of others nearly all his life, whether flying numerous missionary trips to Mexico or circumspectly supporting the needs of his local community. Two things that thrilled his soul – winning the lost for Jesus and soaring the skies in a Cessna. Bill’s character was one of servitude, sacrifice, gentleness, goodness, and love – reflective of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Surviving family members are wife Georgia Ann Orr, daughters Mary Segraves and husband Kirk, Connie Fiser, and Becky Orr, sisters Martha Keller and husband Norman, Brenda Orr and brother Jimmy Orr including five grandsons and two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Those preceding Bill in death are his parents Samuel and Lillian Orr, brother Samuel Jr Orr, sister Jo Ann Dillard.
Pallbearers for “Pappa” will be grandsons Stephan Segraves, Brant Segraves, Ryan Segraves, Chris Fiser, Sam Fiser, and loving friend and brother in the Lord, Ron Taylor. Honorary pallbearer is Dan Kresta.
