Virginia Ruth Taylor, 88, of Tyler, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. She was born on Wednesday, April 4, 1934 to the late Aubrey and Juanita Higginbotham Ward. She was a lifelong resident of Tyler. She married her husband, Glen, on January 8, 1955, in Tyler.
Virginia was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a gracious and hospitable lady who opened her heart and her home to all. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Taylor is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Glen Taylor; daughters, Cheryl Simmons and Donna Tannery; her parents, Aubrey and Juanita Ward; sisters, Patsy Wilson and Delores Golden; and her brother, James Ward.
She is survived by her sons, Brad Taylor (Melissa) of Bullard and Terry Taylor (Tammy) of Brownsboro; sister, Gayle Thompson, of Emerald Island, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Vickie Taylor; grandsons, Michael Tannery (Amy) and Hunter Taylor (Madison); granddaughters, Christy Simmons (Andrea), Shana Christian (Stacy), Ashley Mayes (Terry), Cassi Clarke (Bryan), Brittney Alsobrook (Jeffrey), and Sheridan Taylor; and eight great-grandchildren, Tucker, Aubrey, Tanner, Rowan, Colton, Hanna, Kyler, Harrison, and numerous nieces & nephews.
Services for Mrs. Taylor will be at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, 12053 Texas Highway 64 W. Tyler, Texas, on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Visitation will be at 10:00 am with services to follow at 11:00 am, with Bro. David “Took” Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Tyler Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Tony Ward, Randy Ward, Tim Ward, Ronnie Golden, Harold Glenn Golden, Greg Thompson, Ricky Holt, Allen Holt and Michael Taylor.
