He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Doris Hackbarth, as well as his parents and a sister Adeline and a brother John.
Dr. Hackbarth is survived by his son Dr. Mark Hackbarth, his daughter-in-law Claudia and grandchildren Rachel and Austin Hackbarth; all residents of Tyler.
He is also survived by one brother, Wes Hackbarth, sister-in-law Juanita Hackbarth of Las Vegas, Nevada and sister-in-law, Elsie Coleman of Tyler as well as nieces and nephews.
Dr. Hackbarth was a medic in the Pacific during Would War !!, where he earned three bronze stars and on bronze arrowhead. He was a graduate of the University of Texas Dental School in Houston. He practiced dentistry in Houston for 40 years.
After retiring, he and his wife moved to Tyler to live near family and many friends.
There are not enough words to express how much Dr. Hackbarth will be missed by those who knew him. He will always be loved and remembered for his tender heart, his loving nature, and most of all, his infectious smile.
Visitation will be from 3-5 pm Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Lloyd James Funeral Home. Services will be Monday at 2 pm, June 16, 2014 at Lloyd James Chapel and burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery.
