Memorial services for Richard “Red” Romine, 74, of Chandler will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Rock Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Welch and Rev. Donny Chamberlain officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Richard went to be with his Lord September 11, 2011 in Tyler. He was born in Wood County on October 15, 1936 to Howard E. and Mattie Waldrop Romine. He attended Winnsboro High School and served 4 years in the Air Force. He owned and operated Red’s Barber Shop in Houston for 30 years. Upon retiring he lived in Winnsboro 18 years and spent the past 5 years in Chandler. He was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. He was a Mason, Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was an honest man who loved the Lord and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He carried crosses saying “God Loves You” in his pocket and he gave them to many people, especially children. He always had a smile and never knew a stranger. He enjoyed the friendship at Kidd-Jones in Chandler every morning.
He was preceded in death by a son, H. Richard Romine, and brothers, Gene and Jerry Romine.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara; a daughter, Donna Romine and a granddaughter Abigail Adams of Golden, Colorado, grandson Sgt. Jarrod Romine, serving in the U. S. Marine Corps; sisters, Sara Surratt, Glynda and husband Bill O’Briant of Winnsboro and Mary and husband Joe York of Troup; sisters-in-law, Sue Romine, Earlean Romine and Carolyn Bowles and brother-in-law Byron Allen
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men who met at Kidd Jones and his Sunday school class.
