Rachel enjoyed a long life, full of adventures and surrounded by family. She met Narvle Cain in the diner where she worked at age 17 and it was love at first sight. As soon as she saw him (and before she even knew his name), she told a coworker that he was the man she would marry. They lived in Canada and throughout the southern portion of the United States during their marriage. She was a resident of Tyler for over 60 years. An entrepreneur, Rachel later owned her own fashion retail store called Rachel’s in downtown Tyler for many years. She also loved gardening and was an avid reader. But her most treasured role in life was loving her family. Rachel enjoyed attending church, reading her Bible and praying for family and friends.
Rachel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Narvle Cain; children, Glen and Peggy Hulsey, and Norris and Marla Cain; parents, Lonnie and Ruby Odom; sisters, Loriace Odom and Lorene Odom; brother, Dewey Odom; and brother-in-law, Ray Burrows.
Rachel is survived by a sister, Laverne Burrows; sister-in-law, Sue Odom; grandchildren, Geoff and Shelly Roark, David and Kim Simmons, Natalie Tharp, Travis Cain; five great grandchildren, cousins, and a niece and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held in Tyler Memorial Park.
