Paul W. Harrington was born August 12, 1923 and went to meet his Lord and Savior on September 4, 2023. Paul W. Harrington was 100 years, old of Hideaway, Texas The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 12, 2023 from 11 am-1:30 pm at Lloyd James Funeral Home, in Tyler. On Wednesday 13, 2023 there will be viewing at Trinity Lutheran Church at 11 am with services starting at Noon. On Thursday 14, 2023 interment will take place at DFW National cemetery 11 am – 11:20 am
Paul was born to Hovey and Audrey Harrington on a farm near Elkhart, Indiana. He attended Purdue University and joined the glee club that sang in Carnegie Hall. In 1942 he joined the Army and after Officer Candidate School, OCS he became a pilot with the 62nd field artillery as a scout spotter for his battalion in Europe including the Battle of the Bulge. He later served in the Army Reserves until 1962 earning the rank of Major. He completed his studies at Purdue after the War in 1947 and became a teacher and then H.S. Consular then dean of students a College of Dupage. He met his wife of 55 years in 1950 and had 3 boys.
He bought a lot in Hideaway in 1970 and started his forever home 1971 and retired and moved to Hideaway in 1978. He continued to sing in Trinity Lutheran Church Choir until 2021 and Hideaway Get Happy Singers. He was an avid Cowboys Fan, played golf and boating on the lakes.
Paul is survived by his 3 sons, David and wife, Lynn of Kansas City, MO, Thomas and wife, Colette of Hideaway, Texas, and Jon of Silverthorne, CO. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 7 great grand children, and 4 Great-Great grandsons.
Paul was preceded by his parents and wife, Ethel. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Hospice of East Texas in Paul’s name.
