Pat Jean Fernandez

Pat was born on February 3, 1931 in Dallas Texas to Madoline and James Clyde Shumate. Pat was raised in Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas and attended Jefferson High School. Pat was the owner of an interior design business at Red Barn Square during the 1980s. In her spare time, Pat enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, bird watching, attending Johnny Mathis concerts where she was invited backstage to meet him several times, took numerous Mahjong weekend trips with the girls and her loving niece Cynthia Branch. She loved to travel, visiting China, Belize, and Spain.

Pat's family and friends will always remember her as a beautiful, giving, loving mom, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Tom Fernandez, daughter Molly Sumrow, and granddaughter Emily Mays. She is survived by daughter Anne Hagan and husband Grady, daughter Vivian Mays and husband Ron, daughter Liz Zales and husband Jim, daughter Amy Moser and husband Evan, step-daughters Erin Wiggins, Lisa Fortendery, Stacia Fernandez, and Gina Allgood, and 8 step-grandchildren. Grandsons Mark and wife Edie, Lance and wife Jody, Seth Moser and wife Melinda, Craig Moser, Logan Moser and wife Mary, granddaughters Sarah Mays, Courtney Graves, Amanda Harris, and 26 great grandchildren.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude for the extraordinary care, kindness, and love Pat received from: nurses Barbara and Ally and the entire support staff at Kindful Hospice; the staff at The Blake and their family community; Choice Home Health; and caregivers Alma, Margarita, and Victoria.

A celebration of life for Pat will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lloyd James Funeral Home, 1011 East First Street, Tyler, TX 75701.
