Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1954-1956, with posts in Germany.
Upon returning to Tyler he earned his Certified Public Accounting Certificate in 1959, and began working at a Tyler accounting firm. In 1982 he founded Gollob, Morgan Peddy & Company and served as president.

Michael, known by his associates as “The Rainmaker,” held to his Boy Scout values being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent as he drew clients from all walks of life to the firm. He continued those client relationships even after his retirement in 2005, maintaining his office and association with Gollob Morgan Peddy PC. He was also actively involved with investments in oil and gas companies and real estate, but his biggest joy of all was traveling and spending time with family at his farm.
Always a faithful Catholic and lifelong member of The Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception Church in Tyler, Michael Gollob enjoyed giving back to the community. His past community involvements included serving on the Board of Directors at Southside Bancshares, Inc. and The University of Texas Health Northeast Tyler.
