She was born the oldest child of Corbit and Jewell Midkiff in Wichita Falls, Texas on December 22, 1947. She was affectionately called “Juicy” by her younger brothers. As a child she grew up in Kirbyville and Pasadena Texas, settling in Tyler during the 1970’s. She was a homemaker, raising four daughters, and later worked as an apartment leasing manager, bookkeeper, and store manager. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Joyce never met a stranger and was always loving and kind to everyone she met. She had a heart made for friendship. She loved greatly and was greatly loved by many.
She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother - Corbit and Mary Midkiff; mother and stepfather – Jewell and Neil Moss, two daughters – Deana Crowell and Angie Cochran.
Those left to cherish her memory include three brothers who affectionately called her “Juicy” – Robert Midkiff (Brownwood, Texas), Rodney Midkiff (Kirbyville, Texas), and Rickey Midkiff (Evadale, Texas); two step siblings Eugene McComas (Huntsville, Arkansas) and June McLeroy (Alma, Arkansas); two daughters – Dorie Byrd (Tyler, Texas) and Brandy Soza (Bells, Texas); three sons-in-law – Cris Crowell (Lindale, Texas), Jaime Soza (Bells, Texas), and Steven Cochran (Flint, Texas); seven grandchildren – Paul Byrd and wife, Teresa (Waukegan, Illinois), Cristopher Crowell and wife, Katie (Lindale, Texas), Cheyenne Crowell (Columbus, Gerogia), Stephen Soza (Bells, Texas), Amanda Soza (Bells, Texas), Micheal Cochran and wife Stephanie (Chandler, Texas) and Matthew Cochran (Flint, Texas); plus she was Grammie to seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm – Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home. (12053 Texas State HWY 64 W. Tyler, Texas 75704). Brother Mike Ford will be officiating graveside service at Memorial Cemetery, 11:00 am - Friday, October 5, 2018.
