Jean Audrey Henderson was born in Tyler, Texas on January 16, 1938 to John Aubrey Harris, Sr. and Lena Vivian Shank Harris. She passed to the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 10, 2024 at the age of 86 years.
She graduated from Tyler High School in May of 1957. She attended Tyler School of Business and went on to be a bookkeeper.
She loved living in the state of Colorado. She resided there periodically throughout of her life. The mountains were her “happy place” and she loved spending much of her time there.
She moved back to Tyler for the last time in October 2005.
After 50 years of separation, she was reunited with the love of her life and high school sweetheart, John Eugene Henderson, in September of 2010. They married in December of the same year at the age of 72. They had nine years and 8 months of wonderful adventure together.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Eugene Henderson, her parents, brother, John Aubrey Harris, Jr. and sister-in-law, Marquita Hammons, daughter, Darlina Laughlin.
She is survived by her daughter Jeanine Grimes and husband Robert, of Tyler; son Lester Hooker and wife Heidi of Westminter CO; Johnny Henderson and wife Molly of Duncanville; Jimmy Henderson and wife Paula of Wallisville; Jarrall Henderson and wife Natalia of East Walpole, MA; Rocky Cantwell and wife Patricia of Lawton, OK; Bobby Cantwell and wife Molly of Folsom, LA; And another daughter, Terressa Hall Cantwell-Hall, of Belton MO. Grandsons Michael Grimes and wife Molly and Aaron Grimes and wife Virginia both of Tyler; Kevin Hooker and wife Autumn of St. Cloud, MN; Caleb Henderson of Wallisville; Granddaughters Zoey Simonson and husband Shawn of Rosharon; Amy Cantwell, Dana Cantwell, and Angela Dryer of Independence, MO. Great Grandchildren Joshua Grimes and Hannah Grimes both of Tyler. Several other grandchildren and great children.
She is also survived by her sisters Ruthie Kennedy, and husband Johnny, Carolyn Andrews and husband Doug all of Tyler, and Kay Gross and husband David, of Dublin OH, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and special friends Carolyn Grimes, Melony Mayfield, Connie Rogers and Peggy Thompson, her caregiver.
Jean’s funeral service will be held at Lloyd James Funeral Home Saturday, July 13 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be from 12 to 2. Interment will be at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
