Janet Marie Butler

Janet Marie Butler, of Whitehouse, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on November 13th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and faith. Born in Palestine, Texas on June 16th, 1959, Jan grew up surrounded by family and deep-rooted values of love and loyalty. She was the beloved daughter of Arthur and Shirley Fletcher, who preceded her in death, and grew up alongside her siblings— Debra Tomlin (Roland) of Whitehouse, Cindy Brown of Kilgore, Kay Howard of Van, and Mark Fletcher (Sandra) of Arp. Jan carried the strength and warmth of her upbringing throughout her life, always putting family at the center of her heart.

Jan was blessed to marry her high school sweetheart, Steve Butler, and together they shared 46 wonderful years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, a role she cherished above all else. She leaves behind her beloved children: Stephen Butler of Bullard; Jason Butler (Jessica), also of Bullard; Misty Bullard (Christian) of Tyler; and Christy Scott (Kyle) of Longview. Her seven grandchildren—Haley, Austin, James, Jacob, Alaina, Haden, and Alexander—were the light of her life.

A fervent believer, Jan dedicated her life to serving others and her family. She loved to travel, creating cherished memories, especially during her trips with her granddaughter Haley. Jan’s presence was a guiding light for her family, and her faith was an anchor for all who knew her.

Though our hearts mourn, we are comforted by the promise of seeing her again one day. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Jan’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, reflecting Jan’s compassionate spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others.

Jan’s legacy of love and faith will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who find peace in knowing she is now at rest with her Savior.

A visitation for Janet will be on Thursday, November 21st from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Lloyd James Funeral Home with Services being held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the funeral home. Burial will be at Whitehouse Cemetery.
