Frank Bernard Dalhoff Jr. 92, of Yantis,Tx. died on October 29,2023. He was born on March 5,1931 to Frank B. Dalhoff Sr. and Minnie Lou Dalhoff in Shreveport La. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Quitman, Tx. He was a church liaison with the Boy Scout troop. He was also active in the Yantis-Lake Fork Lions Club.
He got his B.S. in Applied Sciences from Southeastern La. in Hammond La. in 1957. He received his Masters degree in Wood Utilization from LSU in 1959. He was a skilled woodworking craftsman, always working in his shop. If he was not building something he was probably planning to build something. He was also an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors. If there was a LSU football game on TV, everything else stopped. He loved his Fighting Tigers!
He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 in active duty and from reserves in 1958. While on a leave he was traveling by bus and sat next to a beautiful young lady, Elizabeth (Betty) who soon became his wife. They were married in August 25, 1957. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Tyler, Mark Dalhoff and wife, Brandi of Nacogdoches, and Kathryn Jackson of Tyler; two of his three grandchildren, Branden Jackson and wife, Jamie of Kilgore, and Heather Broome of Tyler; and Jessi Jackson wife, Shaun Jackson who preceded him in death. Also he had 9 great-grandchildren, Alyson, Jack, Maggie, Hayley, Logan, Hazel, Katie, Avery, and Cayden. He also has several nieces and nephews. Also preceding him in death was a half-sister Dorothy May Dalhoff.
Visitation will be at First United Methodist Church in Quitman, Tx at 9:30 with the service at 11:00. A short graveside service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler, Texas at 2:30 pm. Pallbearers will be Branden Jackson, David Jackson, Darrell Slabaugh, Bill McPherson, Jack Robinson and Joe De Garostiza.
