She married Lesley Wright of Omaha, Texas in 1946. After living in Texarkana, Tyler, and Austin, they returned to settle in Tyler in 1957. She took part-time jobs throughout her early years; later she worked at and retired from Cotton Belt Railroad. She was a devoted wife and mother, and considered her role as homemaker her primary calling in life.
Emma was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church for many years, and later Westwood Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lesley Wright, in 2002; a baby sister Mary, sister Virginia Mills, and brother Richard Towler.
She is survived by a sister, Frances Foster; son and daughter-in-law, David and Mary Wright, of Tyler; granddaughter Sarah Green and husband Andrew of Tyler, and their 6 children; and granddaughter Julie Pate and husband Kris of Flower Mound, and their 4 children.
Visitation will be at Lloyd-James Funeral Home in Tyler on Sunday from 3-5 pm. A brief graveside gathering will be at the Omaha Cemetery, Omaha, Texas on Monday, at 11:00 am.
The family appreciates the caring staff at Pinecrest and Park Place nursing homes, as well as The Hospice of East Texas.
