Claudia Jean Anderson

Claudia loved life and the people in her life including family, and friends. She always had a heart for animals and rescued many over the years.

Claudia received a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies including psychology, sociology and criminal justice. Her employment history included working in fields that involved helping others. She worked as a school secretary and teacher’s aid for Chapel Hill School in Tyler, Texas. She also worked as a drug and alcohol counselor and held numerous support groups over the years including a support group for individuals diagnosed with AIDS. Additionally she was a county probation officer and worked at the East Texas Crisis Center.

Claudia had a strong faith and primarily attended Presbyterian Churches however she respected and studied religion from all over the world. She became a certified spiritual director and taught numerous Bible studies. She loved to travel and read and learn about different cultures. Her thirst for knowledge never ended.

Claudia is survived by her husband, Lon Anderson; daughter and son in law, Lora and Steve Savoie and her grandson, Chris Savoie; great grand children Emma Carver and Caleb Carver; her brother Allan Sawyer and sister Bonnie Cottrill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Carrie Sawyer and son Scott Anderson.

Memorial service to be held at First Presbyterian Church of Tyler, Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:00 am. Reception to follow.
