2011 at her Wynwood residence.
Virginia was born 5 April 1922 in Preston, Franklin, Idaho to Ira Wells McEntire and Ida
Marion Davis McEntire. She was the middle child in a family of nine. Virginia married
her sweetheart, Seth Johnson Christensen, on August 7, 1942, in the Salt Lake City, Utah
temple for time and all eternity.
Virginia grew up as part of a close knit family whose love and concern for each other
remained throughout their lives.
Virginia worked for a few college professors during her college year and became an
excellent typist. She was a waitress at the Depot Grill for several years, and also worked
as a secretary treasurer for the TASCO #2 Credit Union along with other bookkeeping
jobs.
Virginia was a woman of many talents. She was an amazing cook. She had many recipe
books in her kitchen of which she referred to often as she prepared meals for family and
friends. She had a great love for reading and watching old movies. She belonged to a
literary group for many years and also to a senior’s group called the “Fun Bunch”. She
loved to plan and put on extravagant parties for her family and friends.
Virginia loved antiques. Her home was full of treasures that she had acquired throughout
the years.
Seth and Virginia had a great love for each other. After Seth’s retirement, they were
always together. There was no need for Virginia to drive. Seth was always happy to
chauffeur her to wherever she desired to go. If Virginia was cooking or cleaning, Seth
was right beside her, lending a helping hand. In Virginia’s later years, she struggled to get
around. Seth was always right beside her with his hand outstretched. When Seth passed
away in March 2010, Virginia lost her anchor, her steady rock. Her physical and mental
health quickly declined without him.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served
faithfully in all her church callings. She and her husband were called to serve a mission
in the Boise, Idaho temple.
Surviving are her 4 sons, Neal (Karen) of Pocatello; Gene (Barbara) of Twin Falls; Rex
(Christina) of Twin Falls; Hal (Katie) of Meridian; 11 grandchildren and 10 great
grandchildren; two sisters, June Fischer of Preston, Utah, and Laurel (Gail) Madsen of
Fort Collins, Colorado; and one brother, Warren (Faun) McEntire of Jackson, Idaho.
Preceded in death by her husband, Seth Johnson Christensen; one daughter, Candace
Christensen Walstrom; four brothers, Davis, Wells, Earl and Reed McEntire; and one
sister, Ferne McEntire.
Virginia was special to all her children and grandchildren. She made their lives full.
Virginia was a very loving and compassionate person. She was a true example of what a
Christian should be. She was dedicated to serving others before thinking of herself.
Virginia never spoke ill of anybody.
