Rick Garey passed away at home August 25, 2013. He was born August 1, 1950 to Ken and Jeannine Garey. He was the second of three children; he had two sisters, Diane and Nancy. Rick graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1968 and enlisted in the US Navy. He was stationed in Hawaii for four years. After getting out of the service he opened “The Salt Mine” with Don Northrup. It was a fun place to go. Rick worked for Norco and Jeld-wen for 20 plus years. He married Marilyn Vipperman in 1982, they were later divorced. To this union two children were born, Heather and Kyle. Rick was very proud of both his children.
Rick was an avid sportsman and loved fishing, camping and hunting. He was also a huge BSU fan. Sports were his main entertainment. He has three grandchildren who he loved to camp with, Keegan, Hayden and Reese, his little angel. He had a host of friends and we all will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death his grandparents, his father, Ken and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his mother, Jeannine; his sisters, Diane (Jim) Phillips and Nancy (Bruce) Lutz; his children, Heather (Ryan) Langer and Kyle (Kayti) Garey; as wells as his grandchildren, Keegan, Hayden and Reese and his best pal, his dog Zeb.
Funeral Services for Rick will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 30, 2013 at White Mortuary, 136 4th Ave. East, Twin Falls with Pastor Dale Metzger officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park with Military Honors by the Magic Valley Honor Guard and Idaho National Guard. Services are under the direction of Trent Stimpson and staff at White Mortuary, Chapel by the Park, Twin Falls.
