Shirley Mims Shaw, age 85, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021. Shirley was born February 29, 1936 to Gladys (Parrett) Mims and Malcolm Mims in Sylacauga, Alabama. A visitation for Shirley will be held Monday, April 5, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, 2200 Skyland Blvd. East Tuscaloosa, Alabama. There will be a graveside service Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Rockford, Alabama with Darryl and Michael Shaw officiating.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Rev. Bobby Ray Shaw; Father, Malcolm Mims and Mother, Gladys (Parrett) Mims; her Father-in-Law, Raymond Shaw and Mother-in-Law Valera Shaw; her sisters Anita Roberts and Carolyn Peeks; 2 nephews and 1 niece; 2 brothers-in-law, and 5 Great-Grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Valera Elizabeth “Beth” Laughlin (Jerry) her sons, Michael Ray Shaw (Sheri), Bobby Gene Shaw (Lynn), Darryl Bennett Shaw (Suni), and Dale Benson Shaw (Angie) all from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. 12 Grandchildren; 18 Great-Grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; 2 Brothers-in Law and a Sister-in-Law.
Shirley was a very Godly and faithful wife of a Methodist Minister. She was a Godly and faithful Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and a Friend to many others. She lived a life that demonstrated her faith and trust in God (Proverbs 31:10 – 31). She was a very proud graduate of Sylacauga High School.
Pallbearers will be her Grandsons Jason Shaw, Nicholas Shaw, Josh Shaw, Jeremy Shaw, Kyle Pugh, Steven Shaw, Justin Shaw, Brad Shaw, and Luke Shaw.
