Ronald H. Holmes Jr., age 70, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away on April 19, 2024 at DCH Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 2:30 pm. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Ronald H. Holmes, Sr.; brother, Gary Lee Holmes. He is survived by his spouse, Judy Holmes; Sons, Ronnie Holmes (Brandy) and Chris Holmes (Sherri); Mother, Peggy Holmes; grandchildren, Bradleigh Holmes Bridges (Cole), Bayleigh Holmes Tidmore (Trey), Savanna Holmes Watkins (Sam),Graysie Holmes, Lilly Holmes (Colton Towle), Hunter Holmes and Holden Holmes; great grandchildren, Everleigh and Halston Tidmore, Ronnie Jo Bridges, Collins Towle and Callahan Watkins; brother in law, David Motes (Betty); aunt, Sandy Reid; nieces and nephews, Josh (Erica) Holmes (Logan, Miller and Ava), Lee (Mackenzie) Holmes (Sawyer, Tonya (Eric) Gomillion (Chloe), Michael Motes, Michele Jackson, Melissa Motes and Kelly Motes (Ian); cousins, Colleen (Marty) Bouley (April and Tracy).
Ronald was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky on June 20, 1953. Growing up, his father was in the military, so he lived in Germany, France and all over the United States. While living in Mobile, Alabama, he graduated from Davidson High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Judy Motes. They've now been married for 51 years and have two sons, Ronnie and Chris Holmes, seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Ronald worked for a retail tire company until 1984, at which time he founded his own business, Tuscaloosa Tire and Service Center, that he later turned into a multi-location company, and his two sons now continue to own and operate. The family business has been open for 40 years and many of the employees have been a part of the family for almost as long. Ronald loved to golf, hunt, fish, travel, and spend time with his dogs and family. He was a devoted grandfather, loving husband, and "Papaw" to everyone. He was a generous and selfless man who loved to make people laugh. He will be missed immensely and loved forever.
Pallbearers will be Dan Berfield, Barry Burroughs, Tony Bush, Floyd Davis, John Frizzell, Greg Johnson, Chris Jones, John Mills, Danny Smothers and James Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are All employees of Tuscaloosa Tire and Service Center.
