Minnie was a skilled seamstress and spent a number of years working at Singer Sewing Co. as a salesperson, bookkeeper, and sewing teacher. After recovering from breast cancer, she served her community through volunteering for the Reach to Recovery Program with the American Cancer Society as well as at DCH Tuscaloosa. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Minnie spent 35 years volunteering in youth ministry at South Highlands Baptist Church. A woman of faith, she devotedly ministered in the church choir, served on multiple church committees, and held many prayer meetings in her home. Her
heart for serving and hospitality shone through the way she cared for the sick and grieving by cooking and baking, as well as the special treats she prepared for friends. To many, she was known for her delectable caramel cakes, rich chocolate cakes, and succulent pies. On any Sunday afternoon well into her 80s, Minnie could be found cooking and baking for her family. Looking for her on a Friday, you could find her enjoying her time at the beauty shop. She was
blessed and well-loved by countless friends throughout her life and made an effort to remain in touch as long as she was able. The way Minnie lived her life wrote her funeral because of her love for God, her husbands, children, and grandchildren as well as extended family, friends, and her community. She
fulfilled her gift of service and hospitality to the fullest. Though she was a member of the church choir, her life was a reflection of worship to God. Near the end of her life, through a valiant fight with dementia, Minnie’s love for the Lord never wavered. Through it all, she could always be found praying and worshipping her savior. Pallbearers will be Hunter Falls, Joel Falls, Caleb Morrison, Burton Beck, Jammie Holbrook, Kent Hagler, Cody Haynie, Gage Falls, Alan McElroy.
