Jerome is preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Dismukes Rivers and wife of 52 years, Kathryn Green Rivers.
He is survived by daughter, Malinn Rivers Kostelecky (Gavin) and grandchildren, Reagan & Rhett Kostelecky.
In lieu of flowers: donations can be made to St. Mark Church in Northport.
Jerome was well known for his stories, jokes, and his love of hunting, fishing and Alabama football. He was full of life and never met a stranger. He also loved spending time at his home in Gulf Shores, and making wonderful memories with Malinn, Gavin, Reagan, Rhett and his grand dogs.
He retired with 45 years working for the US Army Corp of Engineers as a Mechanical Engineer and Diving Officer in Tuscaloosa. He could still recall stories of diving school in Key West and many lock and dam closures over the years. He was also a founding member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where he enjoyed Sunday school, years of Sumatanga trips and fun times with the UMYF.
He will be remembered as the most loving daddy, father-in-law, Papa, and dear friend.
