Marilyn "Bunny" Robinson Lee

Marilyn “Bunny” Robinson Lee, age 88, of Northport, Alabama went to be with her Lord and Savior March 22, 2023. Services will be held Monday, March 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Dr Gil McKee and Reverend Clyde Stevens officiating. Graveside will immediately follow the service at Tuscaloosa Memorial. A visitation will be held Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home.

Bunny was preceded in death by her parents Teddie Haskell Robinson and Lucile Rogers Robinson; a son; Curtis David Lee, Jr. father and mother-in- law L.C. and Vivian Hinton Lee, siblings; Alice Robinson Johnson, Shelby Laverne Robinson and Harry Haskell Robinson.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Curtis David Lee, daughters, Diane Lee Hall (Larry), Terri Lee Turner (Scott), and Stefanie Lee McGuire (Michael), daughter- in-law Britette Duke Lee, sisters; Julia Robinson Lee, Linda Robinson Gamble and sister-in-law Linda Lee Spencer, grandchildren; Shannon Stanley (Lee), Lee Turner (Sarah), Blake Hall, Brett Hall,(Denise), Marlee McGuire and Morgan McGuire great grandchildren; Harrison Stanley, Jess Stanley, Scarlet Turner, Violet Turner, Tristan Hall, Shores Turner and Camila Hall.

Bunny was born October 2, 1934, in Greene County, Alabama. She was raised in the small town of Boligee where she was surrounded by many relatives and five siblings. When she was a couple of days old, her oldest sister Alice said “she was as cute as a bunny rabbit” which led to a nickname that followed her throughout her entire life. It was at this point she became known as Bunny, even though many have mistakenly called her Bonnie for years.

She attended Friendship Baptist Church where she accepted Jesus into her heart at an early age. It was during this time that the foundation and life theme for Bunny was formed around the importance of family and her love of Christ and the church. After moving to Tuscaloosa, Bunny graduated in 1953 from Holt High School where she was an Ironmen cheerleader, a beauty queen and was voted friendliest of her senior class.

Bunny loved babies and always dreamed of being married and having children of her own. During her senior year she met the love of her life, David Lee, at the skating rink. They graduated high school in 1953, were married September 11, 1954 and their first baby was born October 1955. They became long time members of Unity Baptist Church where they continued expanding their family and making life-long friends. Bunny served as Sunday School director for many years, sang in the choir, and after the children were all in school, she went to work as a church secretary and bookkeeper for Unity Baptist Church and then retired from Christ Episcopal Church. For the past 37 years she was a member of First Baptist Church.

Bunny and David celebrated 68 years of marriage September 11, 2022. Their marriage served as an example to so many people because they lived life to the fullest while always keeping Christ at the center of their marriage and home. Together they were always the best dancers in the room, could whoop you in a game of Rook and were always ready to take off camping at a moments notice. Bunny along with her sisters Alice and Julia shared a love of collecting Blue Ridge dishes. Many weekends were spent with their husbands, traveling the southeast antiquing and going to flea markets while finding the best places to eat.

Grandmother Lee was the matriarch of her family. She loved her husband, children, grandbabies and great grandbabies. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, keeping up with friends on Facebook and loving on her “Sweet Sugar Man”. Bunny was a beautiful woman with a heart of Christ who left a legacy of love for others and Jesus Christ. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank the staff of Alabama Cancer Care Center of Tuscaloosa, Alabama Heart and Vascular Medicine, Internal Medicine Associates of Tuscaloosa and Aveanna Healthcare therapy team; Candace Atwood and Eric Estes. A very heartfelt thank you to the staff of Oasis Hospice especially Laura Raschilla, Josh Shirley and Latisha Watson for their love and care for our Mother during her final hours at home.
