Kenneth Oscar Machens passed away December 4, 2024 at the age of 68. Ken was born on June 19, 1956 in St. Louis, MO to Peter and Gertrude Machens. After graduating from St. Vianney High School in Kirkwood, MO, Ken went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri. As a mechanical engineer, he worked for several corporations before his last and longest position at Mercedes-Benz USI in Vance, AL. He retired after working there for 27 years.
Ken and his beloved wife Carolyn celebrated their 30th anniversary in October of this year. During the 30 years they lived in Tuscaloosa, they welcomed two beautiful children Magdalena (Maggie) and Parker.
Ken was known for his passionate interests in baseball (particularly the St. Louis Cardinals), football (Mizzou Tigers), hockey (St. Louis Blues), cars, and hunting.
He was predeceased by his daughter Maggie and his parents Pete and Trudi.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn (Zerfas) Machens, son Parker Machens, sister Kathy (Machens) Kleyn, and many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be scheduled some time in the future.
