John H. Price, age 92, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, died at the VA Medical Center Birmingham on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. A graveside service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Tuscaloosa with visitation one hour prior to the service at Memory Chapel.
John was preceded in death by his wife Jane Beck Price, his parents, and two sisters. Survivors include his son John M. Price, daughter-in-law Jennifer, grandson David “Emerson” Price, sister Rose Smith, and brother Mack R. Price.
After more than 20 years of military service, including tours in Korea and Vietnam, John retired from the US Army with the rank of Sergeant First Class, having earned a Bronze Star Medal. He also retired from the Boy Scouts of America after serving 22 years as camp ranger of Camp Horne in Cottondale, Alabama. He was the leader of three Scout Units – Webelos, Boy Scouts, and Explorers. With his wife, John also taught children’s Sunday school for many years.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of all of his Scout Units.
John wished for everyone to know that, as he always said, “We will be friends forever. God loves you.”
