Jack Hannah Ballard

Jack H. Ballard, age 85, of Newbern, died Jan. 8, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Steve Vernon and Bro. Bill Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.Mr. Ballard was the last surviving sibling of numerous brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Dora E. Ballard of Newbern; daughter, Connie B. McCool (Mike) of Tuscaloosa; son, Phil Ballard (Marcia) of Newbern; grandchildren, Bradford C. and Allison H. Ballard, Tiffany L. and Michael S. McCool; and great-grandchild, Lexie A. Segars.Mr. Ballard loved life, his family, the outdoors, gardening, and children.Pallbearers will be Bradford Ballard, Michael McCool, Danny Glover, Rodney Garner, Mark Ballard, and Jay Hatcher.Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Hinton Jr., Rush Smith, Reggie Lancaster, Sedgefield Plantation Hunting Group, staff of DCH Regional Medical Center, and Hospice of West Alabama.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
