He was born on February 8th,1940 in Tuscaloosa, AL and he was raised in Howington, AL. He was the head electrician at Jim Walter #4 Mines and retired after 30 years of service. His dedication to his job and co-workers didn't go unnoticed as he was referred to as, "Pony Man". George served his country with pride with The United States Navy where he obtained his education in electrical work. After retirement, George spent some of his best years with the Kappa Delta House at the University of Alabama as a security guard. He thoroughly enjoyed looking after and sharing stories of, "the girls" from the sorority as they showed him as much love and respect as he did for them.
George loved God, his country, and his family and friends. He was Alabama Football's # 1 fan and enjoyed fishing, country western movies/shows, and was a fan of Dan Patrick's gospel music. He also adored his dog Lopsey Lee Langston, whom he laid to rest this past year.
George is survived by his wife, Sheila A. Langston of 66 years; his daughter Angela B. Langston (Albert Hubbard); his only grandchild Vincent Lee Latham (Shayla Kerr); his great-granddaughter Trinity Leigh Latham; his great-grandson Bryson Lee Latham and his sister Brenda Joyce Bridges (Glen Bridges).
George was preceded in death by his son George Woodrow Langston; his father Clemmie Lee Langston and his mother Suzie Lee Langston; his sister Effie Lee Langston and his sister Linda Lee Langston; his grandmother Lottie Lee McCoy, and his grandfather Huey James McCoy.
Serving as pallbearers are Vince Latham, Bryson Latham, Albert Hubbard, Randy Hubbard, Rusty Patrick and Chris Edgeworth.
A visitation for George will be held Tuesday, February 13 at 1:00 PM at Englewood Baptist Church, 9700 Old Greensboro Rd, Tuscaloosa, AL, immediately followed by the funeral service at 2 PM. A committal service will then occur at Memory Hill Gardens, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, Al.
