TUSCALOOSA – George Warren Hamner passed away on February 23, 2018, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2018, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
George Warren was preceded in death by his precious wife, Bessie Sartain Hamner; his parents, Artis Hamner and Lesta Hamner; and his baby brother, Donald.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula; two sisters, Ann McCracken and Beth Brown (Joe); one brother, Earl Hamner (Betty); and many nieces and nephews.
George Warren was raised in the Romulus community. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After graduating from Tuscaloosa County High School, he went on to work at B.F. Goodrich while attending and graduating from the University of Alabama. He was a wonderful husband and daddy! He loved the Lord and had a servant's heart. He served the Lord in many ways both in the church and in the community. The fruits of the spirit could be seen in his life every day, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. His favorite verse in the Bible was Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Pallbearers will be Mike Hamner, Tony Riley, Ron Rowland, Danny Junkin, Ted Sartain, Ronald McCracken, Johnny McCracken and Don Presley.
Honorary pallbearers are the Agape Sunday School Class and the deacons of First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa or a charity of one's choice.
