Dorothy Lee Compton, age 96, of Tuscaloosa, died May 28, 2012, at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Graham Memorial Cemetery in Reform with Rev. Ken Smith officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Earl Compton; her son, Walter Earl Compton; and two sisters, Mildred Brazil and Evelyn Morris.
Survivors include her daughters, Camille Roberson (Jimmie) of Birmingham and Sharon Compton Mackin; her grandchildren, Renée Reid (Luke) of Aiken, S.C., Steven Mackin (MirAnda) of Clarksville, Tenn., Benjamin Compton (Sarah) of Tuscaloosa, and Jason Compton (Carla); five great-grandchildren; and one nephew, J.G. Brazil (Virginia) of Tuscaloosa.
She was retired from Alabama Power Company after 34 years of service. She was a sweet, genteel, loving mother who was loved by family and friends. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
