She is preceded in death by her father, James Leppert and mother, Lynn Leppert.
She is survived by daughters, Marlene Young Lombardo of Manhattan Beach, California, Rita Townsend Ballard of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Rebekah Townsend Kennemer of Tuscaloosa, AL; sons, Michael Joseph Townsend of Tuscaloosa, AL and Zachary James Jones of Baton Rouge, LA; sister, Janice Burns; brother, Jim Leppert; grandchildren, Eva Pearl, Gabriel, Miriam, and Isaac Lombardo (Marlene’s children)
Cecelia “Cece” Kennemer (Rebekah’s daughter), Camden and Mary Collins Ballard (Rita’s daughters), Maxwell and Kathryn Townsend (Michael’s children), Maya Elise and Ermine Jones (Zachary’s children).
Desiree was born on November 15, 1953 in Memphis, Tennessee and later relocated to Tuscaloosa, AL in 1987. Desiree loved spending time with her children, her grandchildren, cooking, watching Alabama Football, and reading. Desiree was a devout Christian who spent a great deal of her life studying the Bible and spreading the word of God to those around her. If you shared a conversation with Desiree, you heard about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her children whom she loved deeply. Desiree will be missed each and every day by her loved ones and remembered as the faithful servant she was.

A visitation for Desiree will be held Friday, January 13, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405, followed with a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
