Christina Carroll Raines Smith

Christina Carroll Raines Smith, age 94, of Tuscaloosa, died October 2, 2015, at Heritage Health Care. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2015, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Freddie Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Little Hurricane Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookwood with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Raines and Archie Smith; daughter, Joyce Ann Hughes Banks; sons, Jack Raines and Jimmy Raines; step-son, Nelson Smith; granddaughters, Allyson Fields Swanger and Tammy Smith; grandsons, Franky Fields and Brian Clements; six brothers; and one sister.Survivors include her daughters, Faye Fields of Northport, Charlotte Pate (Roy) of Coker and Cindy Clements of Cottondale; step-son, Louie Howard Smith (Ruth); sister, Pauline Stone Woodburg of Georgia; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.Christian was employed at the VA Hospital and Bryce Hospital. She also attended the Mechanic Learners School at the University of Alabama in 1943.Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Hank Mink, Ryan Swanger, Kurt Woods, Cody Woods, Derek Coleman and Josh Coleman. Honorary pallbearers are Heritage Health Care staff and residents, members and friends of Cross Point Church, Hospice of West Alabama, and DCH Regional Medical Center 6th Floor North and Center. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama, Cross Pointe Church or Taylorville United Methodist Church.
