Carol Whatley

Carol L. Whatley, of Tuscaloosa, AL, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Carol was born on May 28, 1946, in Phenix City, AL. Her father, Rev. H.L. Anthony was a Methodist pastor so she was able to experience living in various towns around South Alabama and Northwest Florida. Her most memorable youthful residence was Milton, FL, where she spent her high school years, formed many friendships, and graduated from Milton High School class of 1964. Carol moved to Tuscaloosa in 1966 after marrying her high school sweetheart, Mickey. Carol had a successful 25-year career with the University Of Alabama and was a lifelong Crimson Tide fan. She and Mickey enjoyed season football tickets along with many “Traveling With The Tide” road trips. She and Mickey also enjoyed traveling to class reunions and seeing old friends and classmates during their retirement years. She loved the Northwest Florida beaches and took every opportunity to visit whenever possible. Carol’s family and each member’s well being was very important to her. She dedicated many years, showing unselfish and devoted love, in caring for her mother who suffered from debilitating Alzheimer’s. She was at her husband’s side throughout his long battle and recovery from cancer, providing support, care, and prayer every step of the way. She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them on visits and especially on holidays. Lastly, Carol had an unwavering trust and faith in God’s Son Jesus Christ for her personal salvation and guidance in life especially through some tough health battles in her later years. She reiterated time and again that her faith in Him is strong and she would never doubt that He is indeed the Way, the Truth, and the Life. She is now with Him and at peace. Carol is survived by her husband of 57 years, Mickey Whatley, a son Michael Whatley (Kim), and a daughter Lori Grant (Wade). Carol has four wonderful grandchildren, Marin and Cade (Lori), and Julianna and James (Mike) along with a dachshund named Bella who misses her very much. Carol also has a sister, Nancy Ingram, and many beloved cousins in the Phenix City area. Carol is preceded in death by her father and mother, Rev. Homer Lee Anthony and Sara Anthony.
