Betty Underwood

Betty Ruth Underwood, age 87 of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away at Windsor House on Friday, November 1, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, with Pastor Gary Youngblood officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Betty was born September 23, 1937 in Florence, Alabama to William Abner McDonald and Alice Carrie McDonald. Betty later married Robert "Bob" Lee Underwood where they lived in Tuscaloosa, Alabama with Betty's two daughters, Pam Jones and Debra Hutt.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers; William, Doug, JD, Bud, and Bobby McDonald; and her husband, Bob Underwood.

She is survived by her two daughters, Pam Jones (Gary), Debra Hutt of Tuscaloosa, AL; one brother, Bill McDonald of Decatur, AL; 5 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Betty was a die-hard college sports fan and could talk all sport statistics for hours, at any given time, especially Alabama Crimson Tide. She also enjoyed bowling and was on the local bowling team in her early golden years. Betty was a dedicated employee for 20+ years and later retired from her career at Wal-Mart.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Jones, Dylan Toxey, Drake Toxey, Charles L. McDonald, Dale Shears, Dylan VanDyne. Honorary Pallbearers are Michael Jones, Gary Jones, Brian Wright, and Cliff Sims.
