Betty Elizabeth (Hawthorne) Simmons

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2020, from 12-2PM at Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity provider; with a graveside service immediately following at 3PM from Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband Sonny, her son Michael DeWayne, her granddaughter Erin, her parents Edward & Virginia Hawthorne, her brothers Bud, John, Sam, Robert, Luther, Albert, and her sister Virginia.

Betty is survived by her grandsons Michael Simmons & Timothy Simmons who she has raised as her own, her daughters Carolyn Duncan (Chris), Jennifer Price (Mike), Angela Hendrix (Randall), Olivia Simmons (Pat); and her sons John, Jason (Alicia), Danny, Steven, and James. She also leaves behind her grandchildren – Bradley, Brandon & Ashley Duncan; Devin & Garrett Price; Dallas (Nettie), Chasity, & Rachel Hendrix; Courtney Early (Drew), Katelyn Simmons & Derrick Canner; Colby & Austin Simmons; Hunter, Sonny, Maggie & Thomas Simmons; Dominic Levins; Preston, Alisha & Hayden Simmons and her great-grandchildren Gabbie Duncan, Carson Hendrix, Riley Comans, Emily Mills, Katherine Simmons, and Connor & Chance Chavis. She is survived by her sister Annie Mae Shuttlesworth (Fred), & brothers Eddie Hawthorne (Dorothy), Richard Hawthorne, Charles Hawthorne (Marilyn) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mama will be missed but we are comforted in knowing she has been reunited with our daddy, our brother Michael & her granddaughter Erin as well as many other family members she has missed over the years – what a reunion it must be.

Serving as Pallbearers will be: Michael Simmons, Mike Price, Devin Price, Dallas Hendrix, Randall Hendrix, and Eddie Shirley.

Special thank you to nurses Sharon, Jennifer, Wanda and Andrea with Compass Hospice in Lawrenceville, GA for their love and care given these past few months.
