Norman Raymond Alfors Sr.

He is survived by his brother, George Alfors, of Brooklyn, N.Y., loving children – Susie Hall, Norma Christine Hill, Lynn Baker (Kurt Baker), Norman Alfors Jr; Grandchildren: Monica Klavano (Jamey Klavano), Del Steven Bick, Daniel Bick; Great Grandchildren: Kayla, Vannessa, Taylor, Gavin; Great-great grandchildren: Alyssa, Ally; and many nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy, daughters Joanne and Elaine, and grandson Brian.

Norman’s interest in aviation began early and led him to graduate from the School of Aviation Trades Public High School in Queens, N.Y. He joined the U.S. Navy, serving throughout World War II and the Korean War. He also served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War and continued to serve until 1969 when he retired as a MSGT, completing 26 years of military service.

He began a second career at the U.S. Post Office, working there for 20 years until he retired in 1989.

His artistic talents have been revealed through photography, oil painting, and his stunning work creating miniature room scenes. These magical creations resemble exact rooms from tiny doll houses, complete with hardwood floors, minute fully decorated Christmas trees, ornate wallpaper and furniture, and fanciful lighting for lamps, trees, fireplaces.

The family will always remember Dad’s great cooking skills. His homemade spaghetti sauce was delicious and we will truly miss the Scandinavian crepe style pancakes only Dad could make from his closely held family recipe.

We wish to thank the staff of Providence St. Peter’s Hospice for their loving care and support. Our father especially looked forward to his time with Kathy Cook, who we thank deeply for the comfort she not only brought him, but to all of us as well. She touched his life more than he could ever have imagined. We are grateful for the care and assistance from Assured Home Care. Brenda Simon calmed us through my father’s passing, we will always be thankful for her compassion.
