Johnny (Jon) Gene Delaney passed away at home surrounded with love after a long and courageous battle with Colon Cancer on May 24th, 2021. Jon was born in California to Patricia (Patty) Morgan on November 30th, 1966. Patty met and married Kenneth Austin a few years later and he became the best Father to her boys.
Jon grew up in different states, but Washington became his home. He graduated from Lakes High School in Pierce County Washington in 1985 and soon joined the United States Navy. He served on the USS Nimitz - an Aircraft Carrier for his entire enlistment from 1985 - 1989. Once he was honorably discharged from active duty in 1989, he transferred to the Naval Reserve until 1992. Jon traveled a lot while in the Navy and would tell stories of his Navy days with pride and joy.
Jon welcomed a son, Corey Michael in June of 1991. Corey was his pride and joy. He was so proud to be his dad. Corey and his wife are expecting a baby girl (Emma) in August 2021 and Jon tried hard to hold on to meet her. She is a lucky little girl who will have the best Angel watching over her.
In May 2011, Jon met his wife Lori Miller. This relationship was the first for both of them where they absolutely shared true and pure love. Jon and Lori married on August 4th, 2012 and were able to share 10 amazing years together camping, going to the beach, taking long drives and spending time just together, with their kids and their loves, their fur babies, family and friends. Jon became a Bonus dad to Lori’s son Bryon and Jon loved him like his own.
Jon earned his BA from American Intercontinental University (AIU) in accounting in 2012 and went to work for SeaMar Community Health Center.
In July 2018, Jon was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer that has spread to his liver and lungs. He was a warrior, tough, and strong. However, after all the chemo, radiation, and surgeries, his body stopped responding to treatment. In March 2020, Jon entered Hospice and was able to hang on for over a year! Lori stood by his side caring for him all the way to the end. The extra support and love from family, friends and work families made this journey easier. Thank you for loving us.
Jon is survived by his wife Lori, his sons Corey (Veronica), Bryon (Beth-Anne), his Father Ken Austin, his Brothers; Scott (Desire’) Austin and Don (Carrie) Delaney, his Father-in-Law Don Miller, his Brother-in Laws; Bill (Shanaka) Miller and Mike Miller and many Aunties, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
