He was born August 26, 1936, in Meeker, Colorado, was the son of Lewis Leon Gunn and Marjorie M. Gunn. He spent his childhood years in Colorado, receiving his education in Colorado.
"Mike" Evart was joined in marriage, for a lifetime of partnership with Laura P. Adams Watson on June 15, 1964. They had the joy of celebrating their 58 wedding anniversary this past June. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) and drove truck delivering products produced by DOC.
Mike lived in Colorado and Utah before moving to Olympia in 1964. Olympia was his home for 58 years until the time of his death. He had many loves and interests during his days...and was a real people person and a friend to all. He was a lifetime member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He believed that a person's word and their handshake was all that was needed. He deeply loved the Lord, his family as well as hunting, fishing, gardening, rock collecting, reading and baking.
Many of those surviving Mike were blessed to share numerous precious moments with him. Those included are his wife, Laura P. Watson of Olympia, two sons: Evart Bruce Watson and wife Aloha of Elma, WA, Lewis Leon Watson and wife Amy of Macon, GA and one daughter, Michelle Rene Watson Olney of Lacey, WA. Mike was the proud and loving grandfather of 13 precious grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. All those who loved him are too many to count.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.millsandmillsfunerals.com for the Watson family.
