Virginia A. Knauss took her heavenly flight home to be with the Lord on October 7th at the young age of 91. Born in rural Ohio, October 31, 1930, Virginia is survived by 5 children: Michael (Linda) Schaub, Sandra (Jesse) Wallace, John (Sally) Knauss, Jeff (Diana) Knauss, and Steve (Linda) Knauss, and niece, Linda Sue Link, as well as numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She is also survived by nephews, niece and numerous great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews in Ohio. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Frederick Knauss, her sister, Henrietta Kitzmiller and brother, Roman Fortman.
Virginia and Fred were life-long bakers, owning bakeries in both Ohio and Arizona. Virginia had a passion for baking delicious pies and creating masterpieces when decorating wedding cakes. Virginia inherited a love for music from her father, starting in her teens in various bands playing the clarinet, accordion, and piano, and in her later years she played the organ, taking lessons for the last 20 years.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday October 15th at 10 am at St. Pius X; 1800 Pio Decimo, Tucson, Arizona, followed by internment in the mausoleum at East Lawn Cemetery.
