Thomas Lee Moser (1953-2024) of Marana, AZ died peacefully on April 22, 2024, while visiting his son and grandchildren in North Carolina. He was an exuberant man, with a larger-than-life personality, and a faith in Jesus Christ that was even greater. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kristin Moser, son Lee Moser (Leslie), daughter Kristina McGinley (Matthew), grandchildren Eden Moser, Samuel Moser, Ambrose Moser, and Julian Moser, brother Larry Moser (Candy), and sister Diane Weeks (Wes).
Tom was born in Decatur, IN to Lee and Darlene Moser, whom he loved dearly. When he was eight years old, his family moved to Arizona. He grew up in Tucson, graduating from Sahuaro High School, and attended the University of Arizona, where he graduated with a Master's degree in Teaching. Tom loved teaching, especially being able to mentor all the students who crossed his path and be a light for Jesus to them. To do so, he would go way outside the box in the classroom, whether it be dancing on desks, dressing up in crazy costumes, shooting off rockets, playing Moser Ball, or putting on large theater productions, all for the sake of his students, seeking to provide them a place to thrive. His time in education spanned 40-plus years including Mesa Verde Elementary, Copper Creek Elementary, Painted Sky Elementary, Leman Academy, and lastly Quest for Education and the Arts. He took a break from teaching early in his career to work in ministry for Intervarsity Christian Fellowship in Ontario, Canada. There he ministered to students of all ages, from elementary through college. He served on college campuses in Toronto as well as being the Junior Camp Director of Ontario Pioneer Camp. He held a second full-time career while teaching as a certified financial planner, with First Affirmative Financial Network and Portfolio Resources Group. He had a passion for socially responsible investing, trying to help people invest money in ways that would glorify Jesus. He started a youth musical theater company, Youth @ Performing Arts, where he helped direct and orchestrate many large productions, specifically with the desire to help foster an excitement for fine arts within young people.
He had many interests, including being an avid Arizona Wildcat fan, holding season tickets in basketball and football. One of his last Wildcat experiences was seeing Arizona beat Duke in person at Cameron Indoor Stadium. He loved to fish, always trying to find the perfect lure. He spent many years on a bowling team with his father, brother, and nephew, Kevin Weeks. He loved to decorate and re-decorate his home, constantly coming up with ways to improve it. His greatest interest though, was his family. He loved his wife immensely, always considering what was best for her. His prayers and devotionals with her were his favorite parts of the day. He loved his children unceasingly, providing a home that was full of nourishment, encouragement, fun, and lots of love. He loved his siblings and their families, continually leaning on them, supporting them, and being comforted knowing that they were his brother and sister. He loved his grandchildren. Being "Silly Papa" filled him with a sense of joy that can only come from deep depths of love. He learned how to be an incredible family man from his parents, whom he cherished.
At the bottom of all he did, how he loved, and how he lived- Jesus Christ was his foundation. In all his life, his motivation was always Christ. Though he lived fully, he was always looking towards Heaven, and was in excited anticipation of being totally in the presence of God, worshiping with all the saints that preceded him. That hope has been filled, thanks be to God!
